During the Christmas season, we celebrate the eternal God breaking into the time and space of our world. Writing about 700 years before the birth of Jesus, the prophet Isaiah describes this coming King, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6). We’ll examine each of the names Isaiah uses to describe Jesus. What do they tell us about who Jesus is and what he can do? And what does this mean for our lives?
As Wonderful Counselor, Jesus invites us into a wonder-filled life.
As Mighty God, Jesus empowers us to live a life of courage.
As Prince of Peace, Jesus brings wholeness to our lives.
As Everlasting Father, Jesus invites us to live with an eternal purpose.
